Rufaa Sheikh Ahmed

As a founding director, Rufaa provides strategic leadership and direction to the company. Rufaa has over the last 11 worked in Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia as a researcher, development programmes manager, conflict analyst and peace practitioner. 

His work as a researcher and consultant working with leading consultancy firms like Wasafiri, Navanti and organisations such as Danish Refugee Council, IGAD’s Conflict Early Warning Mechanism and National Steering Committee (NSC) on Peace building and Conflict Management of the Republic of Kenya has added immense value to research and policy initiatives focusing on peacebuilding, community-security/community government relations, PVE and broader governance related issues.

 Rufaa’s multi-faceted career provided organizations and clients with a deep understanding of issues affecting people in the region. He has made enormous contribution to dialogue initiatives aimed at addressing inter-communal violence in North-Eastern Kenya, and employed similar experiments in mitigation of conflicts in Somalia through development of community dialogue and reconciliation plans, and reinvigoration of customary dispute resolution mechanisms.

 Rufaa’s work and expertise extends to climate change and environmental conservation, grants management, communications and humanitarian aid. He is familiar with the works of various donors, including USAID, DFID, DANIDA and German Foreign Office.  Rufaa is a skilled researcher, writer evaluation expert and analyst.

Rufaa holds a degree in Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding from Kampala International University (KIU), a diploma in Journalism and Newswriting from the London School of Journalism and is studying MBA Entrepreneurship and Innovation York University.
