Rufaa Ahmed - CEO and Co-Founder
Rufaa Sheikh Ahmed is the CEO and co-founder of Rufmo Consulting Ltd. With over 12 years of experience in Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia.
Rufaa has established himself as a respected expert in the fields of conflict analysis, program management, and strategic planning.
Rufaa holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Bachelor of Arts Degree in Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding and Diploma in Journalism & Newswriting. His extensive educational background is complemented by professional certifications in peacebuilding and journalism. Throughout his career, Rufaa has led numerous high-impact projects, both in Rufmo and simialr firms and development organizations. His strategic leadership and meticulous approach have been instrumental in driving the success of these initiatives.
Under Rufaa’s leadership, Rufmo Consulting Ltd has developed and implemented strategic plans, capacity assessments, evalutions, and extensive data collection activities for various organizations. His ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and build valuable industry partnerships has significantly enhanced the firm’s reputation and effectiveness. Rufaa is dedicated to fostering sustainable development and peace through innovative solutions and strategic collaborations. Mohamed Dahir Mohamednoor, also known as Murshid, is the Director of Operations and Co-Founder of Rufmo Consulting Ltd. He is at the helm of the company’s operations, overseeing the implementation of the company’s strategy and ensuring the seamless flow of operational information to the CEO and the board.
With over 10 years of experience in organizational management and Participatory Action Research, Mohamed has worked with both local and international organizations, including Interpeace and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC). His expertise in peace and conflict resolution has been instrumental in various initiatives, particularly in North-Eastern Kenya.
Mohamed is the lead researcher and author of the landmark study “Voices of the People: Challenges to Peace in Mandera County,” carried out by NCIC and Interpeace. He has been actively involved in supporting dialogue initiatives aimed at addressing inter-communal conflicts and has significantly contributed to the recently ratified Mandera Customary Law Resolution.
Mohamed holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Armed Conflict from the University of Nairobi and an MA in Peace and Conflict Studies from Coventry University, UK.

ABDIKARIM HASSAN MOHAMED – Partner & Field Manager-Rufmo Somalia
Abdikarim is a seasoned legal practitioner with over 10 years of experience advising governments, firms, and intergovernmental organizations on peace, security, and legal issues. In recent years, he has dedicated his professional energy to designing and conducting research and assessments across a wide range of fields.
Abdikarim has a notable background in the protection sector, where he has been instrumental in shaping and implementing projects for vulnerable community members at the Elman Peace Center. His work with justice institutions has focused on providing legal protection and support to those in need. He holds an LL.M degree in Rule of Law for Development from Loyola University Chicago, where he concentrated on in-depth research, program design, and project implementation across various domains.
Abdikarim’s expertise has been crucial in managing research projects and executing field activities for Rufmo Consulting Ltd, consistently meeting and exceeding client expectations. With his extensive experience and commitment to legal and developmental research, Abdikarim continues to play a pivotal role in advancing the mission of Rufmo Consulting Ltd.
Amina Hassan, born in Mandera County, is a seasoned peacebuilder, educator, and public servant. With a strong academic background in social justice, peace studies, and development, she co-founded the Mandera Women for Peace and Development (WFPD) in 2000. Amina played a crucial role in forming district peace committees and pioneering community policing in Mandera, significantly reducing conflicts and fostering dialogue between the police and community members.
Her mediation efforts were instrumental in resolving major conflicts in Mandera, such as the Garre-Murulle conflict in 2008 and the Garre-Marehan conflict in 2012. Amina also applied traditional Somali rituals like the ‘abaay abaay’ ceremony for trauma healing and reconciliation, earning her regional recognition and opportunities to share her knowledge widely. Her contributions to peacebuilding were honored with a Head of State Commendation by the President of Kenya.
Currently serving as the County Executive Member for Roads and Public Works in Mandera County, Amina is also the honorary Board Chair at Rufmo Consulting. Her extensive experience and dedication to peace and development continue to inspire and drive positive change in her community and beyond.
